Tide the Knot
'Tide the Knot' Ribeye 550

Powerboat Level 2| 6 passengers | based in Mylor Yacht Harbour

Welcome to Tide the Knot
Our smaller RIB, Tide the Knot is a Ribeye 550. The perfect size for a family or couple to get afloat and explore our amazing Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A large passenger bench at the rear and 2 jockeys at the helm give plenty of comfortable and secure seating. Powered by a 90hp Tohatsu she is plenty powerful enough to go for a blast. Head up the Fal to Malpas and visit the Heron Inn or drop in at the Pandora Inn on a hight tide. Tide the Knot is available for charter through Boat Club Cornwall or for Skippered work with one of our Skippers. She is licenced to carry 6 people.
Under power
The 90hp Tohatsu gives excellent power delivery through the throttle range up to top speed. The high bow gives good sea keeping ability. At 5.5m Tide the Knot feels very manageable for pontoon and marina work. For newly qualified skippers she is the perfect boat for building confidence, for more experienced skippers she is very capable of a good blast when the sea gets lumpy!
Layout
Jockey seats for helm and navigator give a secure and stable position to control the boat. Tide the Knot has a Garmin plotter, hand held VHF and all safety kit in line with the licences she holds.

Tide the Knot is available for Charter to Boat Club Cornwall Members or for skippered trips and days out, sightseeing and water taxi. *Area of operation- licenced through Cornwall Council for Cat C+D waters.

Boat Club Cornwall is a members-only RIB charter club where you can hire a RIB once you’ve completed an induction and hold RYA Powerboat Level 2. Skippered trips and commercial hires are also available.
Membership is required for self-drive hire. Skippered trips and commercial work can be arranged without membership.
You must hold a valid RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate before hiring. Training or direct assessment can be arranged if required.
Training can be completed at any RYA Powerboat School. If you already have experience, you may take a direct assessment.
The induction ensures you are confident with this specific RIB, its controls, electronics, safety equipment, and the local cruising area.
The induction lasts around three hours and includes a full briefing, safety checks, electronics overview, and an on-water skills assessment equivalent to RYA Level 2 standard.
Yes. If skills are not at RYA Level 2 standard or unsafe behaviour is shown, further training will be recommended before hire is permitted.
No. Once you have passed the assessment, only a short boat-specific handover is needed when using a different RIB.
Only members who have completed the induction may skipper the RIB. Passengers do not need membership.
Members can book seven days a week (excluding Christmas). Options include pay-as-you-go, pre-paid days, last-minute bookings, or consecutive multi-day hire.
Day hire runs from 8:30am and the boat must be returned by 5:30pm.
Yes. Consecutive days are permitted during daylight hours with suitable storage arrangements agreed in advance.
No. The boat must be secured at least one hour before sunset and night use is not permitted.
You may cruise within the Fal Estuary, Falmouth Bay, and Helford Passage. Delivery elsewhere may be arranged by prior agreement.
Yes, delivery to alternative locations can be arranged for an agreed fee.
No. Insurance does not cover towing inflatables or water-skiing activities.
The RIB is supplied with a full tank. You may return it full or opt for refuelling at the end of hire (fuel plus small service fee applies).
Yes. A £1200 damage deposit is held before hire and returned within seven days if no deductions are required.
When factoring in insurance, storage, servicing, maintenance, and depreciation, Boat Club membership is typically more cost-effective for most users.
